IEA in collaboration with UNDP organises workshop
for female parliamentary aspirants
Accra, Aug. 17, GNA – The Institute of Economic
Affairs (IEA) in collaboration with the United
Nations Development Programme is embarking on a
programme to promote democracy in Ghana.
The event being organised on the theme:
“Strengthening the Capacity of Female Candidates
for Election 2012,” seek to deepen good governance
and increase the participation of women in all
aspects of Ghana's political process.
These are contained in a statement signed by Mrs
Jean Adukwei Mensa, IEA Executive Director, copied
to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Friday.
It said the workshop would identify the capacity
needs of female aspirants to parliament and other
political positions, and equip them with adequate
tools to enable them to campaign effectively for
Election 2012 and beyond.
The statement explained that the Institute
intended to host a number of capacity building
workshops for the female aspirants in the run-up
to the December 2012 elections.
It said the first in the series of the workshop is
slated for Thursday, August 23 at the IEA
