Naadu Mills Eulogises Husband
Madam Ernestina Naadu Mills, widow of Ghana's late
President, John Evans Atta Mills, has in a tribute
to her husband, called him a blessing.

Mrs Mills' tribute which was read on her behalf by
Mrs Gifty Lamptey, to a gathering of hundreds of
mourners from across the globe, at the
Independence Square, in Accra Friday, said, 'My
dear husband Fiifi, you were a blessing to me,
Ghana and the entire world.

She thanked the fallen Ghanaian leader for loving
her and his family, for being friends and
supporters in her marriage.

The former First Lady's tribute which opened with
a scripture reading from the Book of Revelations,
was among a number that eulogised the deceased's
virtues of selflessness, humility, a man who
placed God first and saw in political power, an
opportunity to serve his preople, paid to him at a
burial service in Accra.

The service, the last rite before the mortal
remains of President Mills will be interred at a
special Memorial Park 'Asomdwee Park' (Peace
Park), in the national capital, once again, united
Ghanaians in grief and provided an opportunity for
President John Mahama and a host of religious
leaders who officiated, to drum home the need for
Ghanaians to pursue their common yearning to move
their country forward, in unity and devoid of
rancour.

A stream of people, in the traditional mourning
clothes of black and red, started trooping to the
Independence Square at dawn Friday and long before
the official dead line of 7.30 a.m. for members of
the public to be seated, the stands were filled
up, flowing over to the nearby Accra Sports
Stadium.
