Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the NDC

NDC to decide on Party flagbearer today
The National Executive Committee of the ruling
National Democratic Congress (NDC) will hold an
emergency meeting in Accra today.

The ruling party will decide on the modalities
for the election of a flagbearer for the party
ahead of the December polls.

It follows the death of President Mills and the
appointment of John Mahama as President of the
country and leader of the NDC.

General Secretary of the NDC Johnson Asiedu
Nketia in an interview with XYZ News said the
appointment of Mr. Mahama as NDC leader does not
automatically make him flagbearer of the party.

“There is a slight difference between the leader
and the flagbearer. Now the flagbearer position is
vacant, so we will look at the whole road map
towards the selection of a flagbearer for the
party.

“Our legal committee will advise us vis-à-vis the
provisions of our constitution and we should be
able to know whether we are going for a full
congress or there will be other means of getting a
flagbearer”.
