GETFund To Blacklist Contractors Who Do Shoddy Work
The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) would
blacklist contractors who do shoddy work, Mr Sam
Garba, Administrator of the Fund, has said.

“Government must not be made to go and find money
to work on the same projects you have executed
within next 10 years”, he told contractors.

He said this at Apam, when he led the Board of
Trustees of the Fund on a week-long inspection of
GETFund sponsored education projects in the
Central Region.

Mr Garba said when the Government came to office
in 2009, it realised that 70 per cent of the
GETFund was spent on facilities in tertiary
institutions, especially the universities, while
there were over 4,500 basic schools learning under
trees.

He said the Government decided to change the
pattern and concentrated more on basic education.

Mr Garba said within three years, the GETFund had
provided 1,700 buildings for schools under trees
and 700 classrooms and dormitories for 700 senior
high schools.

He said the Fund had also put up 214 buildings to
admit the first batch of the four-year senior high
school education programme and appealed to
contractors to execute quality projects.

The projects the group inspected in all the 17
Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies
comprised infrastructure in universities, senior
high schools and basic schools.
