The Job 600

Job 600 on fire
Reports reaching Citifmonline.com have it that Job
600, which will serve as offices for Members of
Parliament and their research assistants is on
fire.

Fire Service personnel are currently at the scene,
which is right behind the House of Parliament, in
an effort to bring the fire under control.

The fire, according to eyewitnesses, has engulfed
the sixth floor of the post independence edifice,
which is scheduled to be completed by the end of
August 2012.

The Minister of Water Resources, Works and
Housing, Mr Enoch Teye Mensah, toured the building
early last month.

The Job 600 was built during the administration of
Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s First President
to accommodate participants attending the OAU (now
African Union) Conference held in Accra in 1965.

The structure when completed is expected to house
up to 275 modern offices for members of Parliament
and their research assistants.
