Handicapped Bawumia cannot salvage disastrous Akufo-Addo – Fifi Kwetey
Deputy Finance Minister Fifi Kwetey has dismissed
suggestions the presidential ticket of the
opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been
enhanced with the emergence of Dr. Mahamadu
Bawumia as a stronger partner after his recent
presentation on the state of the economy.

Political watchers believe Dr. Bawumia, courtesy
the lecture, is now seen as a more confident, open
and better communicator who now brings more to the
ticket than he did in 2008.

But Mr. Kwetey told Joy News contrary to the
perception; Dr. Bawumia comes with a massive
handicap whilst Akufo-Addo is a disaster.

He said apart from Dr Bawumia's handicap, “the
person he is partnering is an absolute disaster;
no matter how good you are if you are partnering a
disaster you clearly are not good enough.”

The former Propaganda Secretary of the governing
National Democratic Congress said the former
Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana has been part
of the collapse of the economy of Ghana.

“They left behind an economy that was in intensive
care unit, Bawumia was in charge of that! Bawumia
was part of a process that left TOR (Tema Oil
Refinery) on its knees; that crippled Ghana
Commercial bank; that brought difficulties to the
banking sector; he was part of the team that led
the cedi into collapse…” he claimed.

Mr Kwetey wondered how with what he called such
serious liabilities, anybody would think that Dr
Bawumia is an asset to the NPP.
