US ready to assist Ghana develop its transportation system The US government has expressed its willingness to
assist Ghana develop its transportation system.
US Secretary of Transport, Ray Lahood says the
Obama administration is ready to partner the Ghana
government to achieve this.
In a meeting with President Mills at Washington
DC, Mr. Lahood urged the Mills administration to
make transportation a top priority.
"Transportation means jobs. Whether you are
building a road, a run way a railway all of those
things create jobs. So it's a win-win for your
country when you put transportation as one of your
top priorities."
He said Obama has a vision and a strong
transportation programme for America which could
be helpful for Ghanaians.
“If there are ways that we can be helpful to you
for your vision to put your country men and women
to work in transportation, it will be good for
your infrastructure; it will be good for jobs and
it will be good for continuing to lead the
continent in transportation,” he promised.
On his part, President Mills said his government
is happy to enter into such partnerships with the
US and urged more American companies to invest in
