Listless Ghana draw with Guinea in Casablanca to top Group E
Ghana opened a one-point lead at the top of Group
E after drawing 1-1 with Guinea in Casablanca on
Saturday night.

Captain Asamoah Gyan gave the Black Stars a 1-0
lead before the break but the Sylli Nationale put
up a stirred up performance afterwards to snatch a
deserved point.

Both sides began on a lethargic not but the
visitors were quick to with Harrison Afful making
the first attacking move but he was flagged
offside.

The Esperance man, playing at right-back, snuck in
the Guinea defence on the flank after was picked
out by a neat Kwadwo Asamoah pass but he as in an
illegal spot.

Guinea were more attacking and when Jordan Ayew
was disposed in the middle, they quickly they
turned it into attack but could not break down the
Stars defence.

The Black Stars were slow but purposeful and in
move of the early moves, Jordan released Gyan
inside the box and the Al Ain striker drilled one
pass the goalkeeper for the opener on 26 minutes.

This sparked the Guineans and Michel Dussuyer's
side began probing for the equalizer but
inferiority complex coupled with the lack of
cutting kept the scoreline still at 1-0 before the
break.

Just after the break, it was all about Guinea
dictating the space and created two glorious
opportunities in two minutes but once again, their
goal-shy attackers spurned those chances.

On 49 minutes, Ghana goalkeeper Stephen Adams had
to come out to smother an attack after the
Guineans had broken the offside trap.

Guinea continued weaving patterns and built on
their confidence level with Ghana looking out of
sort.

The Sylli Nationale waited until the 80th minute
when Ibrahima Traore, who plays for
Moechengladbach, cut in from the right and drilled
in a powerful shot which cannoned the inside of
the cross bar.

They continue to push as the Black Stars failed to
take charge of the game.

Not even the introduction of Mubarak Wakaso,
Mohammed Rabiu and Abdul Majeed Waris could help
matters.

Ghana went tops of the poll after Uganda were
shocked 1-0 at home by Togo but it was a lame
performance.
