Fatau Dauda is our no.1 - Orlando Pirates technical director
Orlando Pirates technical director Stanley
Chabalala is on a collision course with coach
Roger De Sa by insisting Ghana goalkeeper Fatau
Dauda will be the first choice at the club.

De Sa had declared the Black Stars no.1 as his
third choice behind Senzo Meyiwa and Brighton
Mhlongo.

The coach’s comments seem to have infuriated his
employers who bought the Ghana international at
the start of the season to replace Moeneeb Josephs
as the club’s first choice.

Delayed registration for the South African top
flight and the inability to register Dauda for the
Champions League campaign saw Meyiwa favoured as
the first choice.

But Pirates technical director Chabalala says the
Ghana goalkeeper will be assuming the leading
goalkeeper’s role despite the contrary
declaration of coach De Sa.

“Dauda is not the third choice goalkeeper; he is
not the second choice goalkeeper. He will be the
first choice goalkeeper and he is going to compete
with the goalkeeper who played the African
championship,” he told Kumasi-based Angel FM.

“Dauda should be playing because we have just
received his card after registration. So he is
going to be with the team as from Monday as we
speak.

“We are also worried because we heard from our
administrative officer what the manager said that
Dauda is the third choice goalkeeper.

“Dauda cannot be the third choice goalkeeper for
us when he is the first choice goalkeeper for
Ghana.

“Our goalkeeper is not even the second choice in
South Africa so how can we say that Dauda is the
third choice goalkeeper? No, no, no.

“Just that we are not playing this weekend but
on Monday. So Dauda will either be in the post or
will be on the bench.”

Dauda’s position as the first choice Black Stars
goalkeeper is under serious threat due to his
relative club inactiveness.

He has been adviced to seek at least a loan move
away from the club if he is not guaranteed regular
playing time in order to maintain his position in
the Ghana national team ahead of the 2014 World
Cup in Brazil.
