Ghana edge Nigeria to win five-goal thriller
Ghana's U-20 team put on a show to edge rivals,
Nigeria 3-2 in their opening Group A match at the
8-Nation International tournament in South
Africa.

The Black Satellites now need a win from their
next match to the semi-finals.

Goals from Baba Abdul Rahman, Frank Sarfo Gyamfi
and Benjamin Fadi helped the Black Satellites
secure victory on Friday at the Athlone Stadium.

Ghana are second on the standings though level on
points with Argentina, three apiece after the
South American nation beat South Africa 3-1 in the
other group match.

The Flying Eagles, against the run of play took
the lead through Uche Agbo, who headed home after
47 minutes.

However, Ghana drew level almost immediately when
left-back Baba Rahman scored with a shot from
outside the box.

Nigeria jumped into the lead again when Aminu Umar
bundled the ball into the empty goal after a
scramble in the Ghana box in the 61st minute.

It took Black Satellites 19 minutes after falling
back to draw level. Sarfo Gyamfi smashed home from
a free kick that sailed beyond goalkeeper Samuel
Okani.

And with four minutes remaining, substitute Fadi,
was on hand to tap-in the match winner.

The win will boost coach Orlando Wellington's side
ahead of their meeting against the hosts, Amajita
at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday before
finishing up the group campaign against
Argentina.

According to the tournament rules, the top two
teams in each group, qualify for the last four
