Police hunt for 16-year-old student for attempted murder
The form one student who attempted to murder his
teacher at Birim in the Nsuta District of the
Ashanti Region is wanted by the Police. The
16-year-old, Richard Koduah of the Birim B/A
Junior High School, is said to have fled the town
after the foiled murder and has since not been
seen.

Teachers in the school are now leaving in fear and
some are said to be unwilling to attend classes
until the boy is arrested. The Police have
meanwhile cautioned his parents to either bring
him or provide information that will lead to his
arrest. Background Koduah was punished by his
teacher, Sandra Oparebea, for absenting from
school without permission. But in his bid to
payback his female teacher, he surreptitiously
entered the teacher’s room into the roof
carrying a knife and machete.

The incident happened last Saturday at about
12:30am at a time that Ms Oparebea, was asleep.
Narrating her ordeal and how she managed to escape
death, Ms Oparebea told Onua FM that while asleep,
she heard some unusual noise from her roof which
woke her up. According to her, she wondered what
was the cause of the noise. Not long, she said her
co-tenants, who heard the noise, started knocking
at her door to find out if she was alright.

She said her co-tenants joined her to search where
the strange noise was coming, only to find Koduah
on the roof holding a knife and machete. Koduah
was said to have confessed to them that he was
there to murder Ms Oparebea. A report was made to
the Police and the school authorities but Kodua
has absconded in a bid to avoid arrest. Fear But
the teachers say they are frightened by the
incident and fear for their lives.

Ms Oparebea told Onua FM Thursday that her other
colleagues are reluctant to go back to their
classrooms to teach . Though the school
authorities have tried to calm down the teachers,
that appears not to have been effective. The
teachers say they suspect Kodua’s parents may
know his whereabouts because they have made no
attempt finding him.
