Infrastructure at Mpasaaso No. 2 in deplorable condition
The people of Mpasaaso No 2. in the Ahafo-Ano
South district of the Ashanti Region are
complaining of the non-maintenance of existing
infrastructure, leading to their deterioration.

These are the local school blocks, public places
of convenience, and boreholes serving the
community.

Three of the four public places of convenience are
completely out of use, due to improper management
and non-maintenance.

The inhabitants complained to the Ashanti File
during a visit to the community recently, that
almost all the school blocks in the town were
dilapidated, and that a Kumasi Ventilated Improved
Pit (KVIP) toilet constructed for the community by
the Roman Catholic Church had been closed down,
because no proper accounts were being rendered by
the chief, Nana Twumasi Ampofo II, who has
forcibly taken over the running of the facility.

The other KVIP constructed for the town by the
District Assembly is not functioning, while a
six-unit classroom block and toilet constructed
for Mpasaaso No. 2 some few years, ago have also
started deteriorating without any efforts at
rehabilitation.

The spokesperson, Mr. Joseph Amankwaah, alias
Akintola, has appealed to the chief, School
Management Committee (SMC), and the Parent Teacher
Association to sit up in the interest of the
entire community, and ensure that these facilities
are maintained.

They want the community to benefit from proceeds
of a community farm which has been unaccounted for
over the years.
