Kojo Adu Asare

Mills is a happy man; he caredless what we do with his body - Adenta MP
National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of
Parliament for Adenta Constituency, Kojo Adu Asare
has urged Ghanaians to emulate the enthusiasm with
which the late President John Atta Mills served
God to book a place in heaven.

According to him, death is inevitable but the most
important thing for every human being is to secure
a place in heaven where he says the late President
is gone to be with the Lord.

Adu Asare was commenting on the controversy over
where the late President who passed Tuesday would
be laid to rest on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen
programme, Thursday.

Government has earmarked the Flagstaff House and
the Kwame Nkrumah mausoleum as the final resting
place of the late President pending an approval by
Mills’ family who initially wanted to bury their
kinsman in his hometown Otuam in the Central
region.

But the choice of the Flagstaff House by the
Funeral Committee was gravely criticized by some
family members of the late Mills and the
opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) who claim
government’s decision is against the wishes of the
late President.

However, Adu Asare was of the view that the tussle
over who has the legitimate right to bury the
fallen hero is all vanity.

“The man [Mills] is gone; whatever you do with his
body is not his business. He had the hope for
eternal life and for me I think that is all that
he lived for”.

The Adenta MP noted that President Mills is dead
and gone hence the rest of us living must strive
to live a pure and holy life devoid of sin to join
him in heaven.

“To be absent in this world means to be present
with the Lord. The spirit of President Mills is
gone to be with the lord and I am sure that his
spirit is happy and enjoying”.

The NDC MP posited that the late President endured
all the vilification from both the opposition and
within his party because he knew where he was
going.

Adu Asare therefore urged government and the
bereaved family to reach a consensus quickly to
ensure the late President is given a befitting
burial.
