President Mahama signed the book of condolence

We are behind you in these difficult times; Kufuor assures Prez Mahama
Ex-President John Kufuor has congratulated newly
sworn-in president John Mahama.

The two were meeting at the Castle for the first
time after president Mills passed on Tuesday.

Whilst describing Mills’ death as a shock to all,
he said the business of government must go on.

He said his mission at the Castle is to mourn the
late president and to send him off in a befitting
manner.

He said the death, though painful has provided an
opportunity for all political actors to come
together.

He pledged his unalloyed support to John Mahama
who was sworn–in only yesterday.

He is convinced Ghana will sail through the
difficult challenge it now finds herself in.

Ex-president Kufuor said the country must not be
divided under ethnic or religious lines and must
be united with a common vission.

"We are here today to rally behind you as
president" Kufuor said.

John Mahama on his part was thankful for Mr.
Kufuor and the NPP flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo for
the support they have shown thus far.

He considered the support by all the political
party leaders as a great responsibility, adding
“there is nobody else to look up to now” but him.

Whilst conceding that politics is competitive, he
is convinced it can be done in a decent manner and
in an atmosphere that is more dignifying.

President John Mahama said he “studied at the
feet” of the late president and is hopeful he will
be able to continue the good works he has
started.

He said he will be counting on the support of Mr.
Kufuor and all others to ensure a united country.
