‘Let peace reign in the north before 2012 elections’
The parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic
Party in the Bunkpurugu Yunyoo constituency of the
Northern Region, Mr. Solomon Boar, has appealed to
the people in the area to give peace a chance so
that the future of the youth is not destroyed.
Mr. Boar made the appeal through a telephone
conversation with the Ghanaian Times in Koforidua
He said the people in the constituency and for
that matter the district, are all relatives
through direct family lineage or marriage and it
would be very unfortunate for family members to
stage a fight for outsiders to watch.
The parliamentary aspirant said the future of the
people in the area, especially the youth, would be
very bleak and unwelcome if there was always
conflict among the people, particularly when it
comes to relationships.
He said he was very confident that reasoning would
prevail among the various factions and family
members to pave the way for peace to prevail.
“Though, the area is relatively calm, we still
need absolute peace to bring the needed
infrastructural development for them to enjoy,” he
Mr. Boar called on the security command to live up
to expectation so that schools in the area would
retain the children on their rolls.
“I believe in the security, but I once again call
on them to strengthen their professional standards
to ensure a lasting peace in the area,” he
The parliamentary aspirant reminded the people of
the period in which they are now, which is the
lean season of the farming period and once their
major occupation is farming, if there was no
peace, they cannot enter the major season.
“I, therefore, count on the support of all
Ghanaians to pray for the peace in the north and
the entire nation as the 2012 elections draw
near,” he said.
