CLOSAG to embark on strike by July ending Accra, July 13, GNA -The National Executive
Council of the Civil and Local Government Staff
Association, Ghana (CLOSAG) has threatened a
nationwide strike if there is no firm decision on
the payment of premium to members by July ending.
A press statement jointly signed by the President
of CLOSAG, Alhaji Mahamadu Assibi Azonko and
Executive Secretary Mr Isaac Bampoe Addo said
their decision was premised on the fact that the
Fair Wages and Salaries Commission had failed to
comply with the directive of the Minister of
Employment and Social Welfare to develop scenarios
for the payment of premium to staff of the
Association by March 5.
The National Executive Council (NEC) have
therefore decided that if by the end of July a
concrete decision on the payment of its members
has not been concluded, it would have no option
than to embark on a nationwide strike as a last
resort to support its demand, the statement
stressed. Source - GNA
