Rawlingses to form new party – Kofi Adams
Spokesperson for the Rawlingses, Kofi Adams has
given indications that the former first couple
could be forming a new political party.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem Monday, Mr Adams
- while not being emphatic about the formation of
a new party based on the principles and ideologies
of the Rawlingses - told show host Adakabre
Frimpong Manso that: “Don’t be surprised if a new
party is formed with the intention of salvaging an
existing party.”

Political watchers who spoke to Adomonline.com say
short of admitting that a new party was in the
offing, Mr Adams had confirmed what many had
suspected for a while.

He however dismissed speculation that Mr Rawlings
and his wife were waiting for the demise of the
NDC before forming a new party.

Kofi Adams pointed out that others who believe in
the principles underlying the June 4 and 31st
December revolutions could also be planning to
form parties.

“When we get there we will see what happens.
People have the right to form parties. If they are
going through the proper processes to form a
party, I will endorse it,” Kofi Adams declared.

He called on members of the governing National
Democratic Congress(NDC) to brace themselves for a
“shock” if the leadership of the party continues
to ignore the real problems confronting them.

“If we continue to close our eyes over the bad
things happening and pretend everything is fine,
we will be shocked (in the December elections),”
Mr Adams warned.

According to him, the party elders and executives
complain bitterly in private but fail to express
those concerns at meetings, a development he said
was not helping the party.

Touching on recent developments in the NDC, Kofi
Adams acknowledged that positive defiance as a new
project for the party would be a good, but
cautioned: “Don’t use positive defiance for
evil.”
