NPA dismisses contempt case against CEO and TOR boss
The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) says it
cannot be liable for contempt of court since it
appealed against the ruling of the court to return
monies collected as ex-refinery differentials.

Chief Executive Officer of the NPA Alex Mould and
the Managing Director of the Tema Oil Refinery
(TOR) Ato Ampiah have been cited for contempt for
allegedly refusing a court order to pay what has
been explained as illegal fuel margins collected
since June 2011.

An estimated amount of 800 million cedis is said
to have been illegally collected by the NPA.

But counsel for the NPA, Dominic Ayineh explained
to XYZ News that the Authority will oppose any
contempt case as according to him, the matter is
still pending at the Court of Appeal.

“We have not been served with any notice of the
contempt that has been filed" Mr. Ayineh said
adding that "indeed this is the first time that I
am hearing it and the first time that my client
has also been informed".

Mr. Ayineh added "we have not been served but at
the appropriate time we will respond once we are
served with the proceedings”.

But Policy advisor for the NPP, Kwaku Kwateng who
filed the suit said the NPA must be punished for
what he described as insubordination.
