$12.7 Million For Jobless Youth The Skills Development Fund (SDF) has begun
disbursing at total of 12.7 million dollars for
the training of hundreds of jobless youths and
unskilled workers.
The fund, being administered by the Council for
Technical and Vocational Education and Training
(COTVET), aims at assisting various organisations
and associations to develop the technical skills
of their workers and their members towards
increasing job creation.
The first batch of nine approved beneficiary
groups yesterday signed up to access the grants
from the Fund which was established to address
sustainable financing of the Technical and
Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
They are Ghana Telecom University College, Sleek
Garments Export Limited, Gratis Foundation, Dream
Environment, Volta Regional Bee Keepers
Association, Eastern Regional Grasscutter Farmers
Association, Brong-Ahafo Moringa Farmers
Association and Ejisu-Juaben Pig Farmers
Association.
The Fund has so far secured support from the Royal
Danish Embassy which contributed $10 Million for
five years, the World Bank also contributed $50
million for five years and the German Embassy
pledging 10 million Euros.
