Samuel Atta Akyea (Abuakwa South), Dr. Anthony Osei Akoto (Old Tafo), and Mathew Opoku Prempeh (Manhyia South), all opposition MPs Case against GNPC's $700m loan adjourned
The Commercial Court hearing the case in which
some three Members of Parliament are suing the
Ghana National Petroleum Corporation over a loan
has adjourned the case.
The adjournment was upon the request of counsel
for the three MPs.
Nana Asante Bediatuo, according to Joy News'
Kwakye Afreh Nuamah, told the court presided over
by Justice Janapare Bartels-Kodwo, on Wednesday
that he had come upon new and relevant information
bordering on the case and would like to amend his
documents.
The Plaintiffs were consequently granted leave to
amend their statement of case relative to the
supplementary affidavit to be filed.
Counsel for Defendants, Tony Lithur, said he was
ready to respond to the issues in Court.
The Court adjourned hearing to Thursday, 11
December, 2014.
Samuel Atta Akyea (Abuakwa South), Mathew Opoku
Prempeh (Manhyia South) and Dr. Anthony Osei Akoto
(Old Tafo), all opposition MPs, are seeking to
stop the GNPC from acquiring a $700M loan without
Parliamentary approval.
Mr. Atta Akyea said the conduct of the GNPC
amounts to a flagrant constitutional violation
which must be curbed.
He said the matter is not a simple case of civil
litigation, it is a serious constitutional
matter.
