Unilever Ghana supports capacity building for development
Unilever Ghana Company Limited has declared its
preparedness to support capacity building and
skills enhancement in the country for the job
market.

This would equip the youth of the country with
managerial skills to start their own business in
the job market.

Speaking at a press briefing dubbed: “An evening
with our Media partners” last Friday, the Managing
Director of the West Africa branch of the company,
Mr. David Mureithi, said the youth is the future
of every country, therefore, it will be a great
idea if companies train and develop young
graduates to occupy future leadership positions
for the betterment of their nation.

He said Unilever Ghana, the head quarters of the
company’s West Africa branches, has succeeded in
expanding its post university national service
programme by taking an extra 50 personnel from
their core functions across the country.

As one of the key holders in national development,
he said the company will re-train 20 - 30% of its
recruits who excel to full time workers.

He noted that the recruitment of workers which is
currently running is based on what the company
describes as ‘Future Leaders and Graduate
Recruitment Programme.”

At the end of the past year he said a turnover of
GH˘20.9million representing a growth of 33% was
made by Unilever Ghana adding that the achievement
was in spite of the sharp rise in commodity cost
which impacted their production costs and
underscoring the resilience of their business.

He said the company is well aligned to double the
size of its business by 2015.
