Vodafone Ghana ready for Ghana Music Awards
Vodafone Ghana is feverishly gearing up with
preparations for the 2012 edition of the Ghana
Music Awards.

The VGMA Festival is the biggest event on the
Ghanaian entertainment calendar which aims among
other things to recognize and celebrate the hard
work and dedication of the various players in
Ghana’s growing music industry through a coveted
Awards Scheme.

Preparations for this year’s event began in
October 2011 with a series of intensive Technical
Review sessions that sought to overhaul the entire
awards scheme as parts of efforts to revamp the
scheme when the new partnership with Vodafone was
announced.

The entire scheme was reviewed by a Technical
Review Team consisting of a cross section of
seasoned industry practitioners and executives who
spent several days deliberating on ways to uplift
and revamp the scheme.

The full outcome of the review exercise will be
presented to the media next week and published in
the 12th of January 2012 edition of the Graphic
Showbiz.

The Technical Review team consisted of: Amandzeba,
George Gyimah (Phamous Philms), Nacy (No Tribe),
Kwame Faakye, Kiki Banson, Bessa Simons, Richie
Mensah (Lynx), Diana Hopeson, Abraham Ohene Gyan,
Fred Kyei Mensah, David Kyei (Kaywa) and Joseph
Addison (Killbeat).

The rest wereSammy Forson, Okyeame Kwame, Arnold
Asamoah Baidoo, Paul Nuamah Donkor (Jay So),
Appiah Dankwa (Appiatus) and DJ Andy Dosty.

Meanwhile, it is announced for the information of
music industry practitioners and all interested
stakeholders to start collating and gathering data
on all their releases and artistes in preparation
for submission at Charterhouse offices.

This covers all musical works produced and or
released from December 1, 2010 – December 31,
2011, which will then be presented to the VGMA
Academy for consideration.

The data collection process will involve the
filling out of Nomination forms by all artistes
and their management, and will span the entire
country.

Nomination forms have already been dispatched to
strategic points all over the ten regions for
industry professionals to have the chance to
nominate their works or that of others for
consideration for the Awards. The period for
submission of entries is 1st – 21st January 2012.
